One of the most unanimously enjoyable parts of the surf camp is the snorkeling trip to the Islas Marietas

.

The rugged Mariettas, inhabited only by thousands of birds, including the green and blue footed boobie.

We check out the limestone formations as well as a hidden white sand beach you have to swim through a cave to get to!

Jumping off the rocks is optional.

January through March there are humpbacks all over the bay.

Horseback riding with Rancho mi Chaparrita is an excellent way to explore the local diversity of plant and bird life in the tropical forest as you meander from jungle to beach after beach. Your guides are experts on the local flora and fauna.
Unanimous praise for their expertise and friendliness are a reflection of the owner, Luis Verdin. Luis and his family have been providing horseback tours in the area for more than 10 years.
Depending on your ambition, the rides are customizable. There is an all day ride to monkay mountain with lunch available for those who enjoy longer rides.
Since we ride in an ecologically sensitive zone, every 4 months theranch is inspected by federal authorities for compliance with land use regulations pertaining to wildlife & flora (i.e. many animals and trees are stricly protected)

Zip from tree to tree via cables high above the jungle floor at Rancho mi Chaparrita's Canopy tour. You can see the ocean from deep in the jungle.

Other animals found in the local jungle:

Jaguars, armadillos, geckos, turkeys, coati mundis, snakes, rabbits, skunks, wild pigs, hawks, ocelots, vultures, deer, iguana, and surfers
