Learn to Surf in warm H20! Or improve your surfing in fun, easy waves. Our camp is designed to be an in-depth introduction to the art and science of surfing. If you already know how to surf, you're welcome to skip any instruction and just surf! If your flight lands before 3, you should be able to surf the day of arrival. Surf lessons: For beginners or intermediates, we cover it all: equipment, ocean safety, and surfing etiquette, with daily guided trips where you'll learn how to read waves at different spots. Groups are kept to a max of a 4 to 1 instructor ratio. Surfing 2-3 times a day, six days in a row will definitely improve your surfing! Guests have unlimited access to all equipment and are encouraged to surf as often as desired.
Activities and Nightlife: Surfing is the primary activity, but also included in the camp are: a zip line canopy tour in the jungle, a snorkeling trip and surfari to a remote break. Most tend to gather around sunset for volleyball, horseshoes, bocce, frisbee, and various games of skill. Mondays we usually go to Sayulita for salsa night or catch a live band here in Mita. Other nights we usually hang out at the BlueWater Grill around the firepit on the sand. Though still a small town, Punta Mita has a great selection of restaurants, a few bars and some great local and visiting musicians.
What to bring: Sunblock, sunglasses, & a hat are recommended. At least two towels & a rashguard if you have one. For clothing, pack super light; you'll need very little! The air temperature averages around 80F from November to April, slightly less for the H20 temperature! Bring long shorts to prevent inner thigh rash. Neoprene rashie Dec-Feb is advisable for the wind if you're easily cold and stay out a long time. Booties are at your discretion; there's a lot of rock reef breaks but 90% of people don't wear them.
Exercises you should do to prepare: Lots and lots of push-ups, core balancing, swimming, & yoga. Upon booking you'll be sent a more detailed set of exercises that will help prepare you. Getting here: Punta de Mita is located 40 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta airport. It is about a 2.5 hour flight from Los Angeles, just under 4 hours from SFO. Airfare from the west coast runs around $350-450, from the east coast, around $550.
Why choose us? 1. Puerto Vallarta is super close, super modern and super safe (although we're off on the north end of the bay where the good surf is)
2. Mexico is not the big, bad, dangerous place the media makes it out to be (but your friends and family will be impressed by your intrepidness)
3. Our trip will cost you LESS than Costa Rica and won't eat up 2+ days of travel to get here. 4. All of our instructors speak fluent English and have been surfing for a MINIMUM of 10 years. (we're told that many surf camps have instructors that are new to surfing) 5. We've been doing this for 7 years. We have fun in Mexico wired. ;-) (we want your vacation to be everything you're ever imagined a surf trip in Mexico CAN be)
